  • Model: KitchenAid Pasta Scoop Colander, Black

Review KitchenAid Pasta Scoop Colander, Black / KitchenAid KG165OB:

Forget all that juggling with colanders and a stockpot full of boiling hot water and noodles. Use this scoop to gather your pasta without having to upend the pot. Also handy for retrieving fritters, wontons and so on from oil or broth. Sturdy and stylish, this tool consists of a colander on a handle, forming a scoop that quickly drains pasta, vegetables, and shrimp right from the pot. The colander measures 7 inches wide and 8 inches long, ample for serving a generous portion of pasta with a single scoop, and is squared off at one end so it can scrape the bottom of a pot. Made of polished, 18/8 stainless steel, the colander scoop has a beautiful enamel-like handle with a hanging hole on the end. It's dishwasher-safe and measures 16 inches long overall. KitchenAid says the first year of the colander scoop's lifetime warranty against defects is hassle-free, with a replacement shipped at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. -Fred Brack.

Review Signature Housewares Sorrento 120-Ounce Large Mixing Bowl, Ruby / Signature Housewares 70587:

Created by tableware designer and gourmet chef Debbie Segura in 2001, Sorrento is perhaps Signature Houseware's most popular dinnerware pattern. Sorrento stoneware suits almost any kitchen décor with its rustic, Italian countryside feel, showing a raised dot and olive leaf patterning on most of the solid-colored, thickly-glazed pieces. Square plates are also available, and bakeware and glassware complete the extensive collection, now available in more than half a dozen colors ranging from neutral suede to bright ruby red. The largest of three nesting Sorrento mixing bowls, this one measures 10 inches in diameter and holds up to 120 ounces, or nearly four quarts, ideal for mixing a batch of cookies or serving a party-sized tossed green salad. All three mixing bowls feature a different exterior pattern. The rim band on the large bowl, which helps provides grip, is embossed with an almost floral-like olive leaf motif, while vertical bands of raised lines and dots decorate the sides. Alone or with the two smaller mixing bowls, this attractive and functional bowl makes a great gift for someone who is building a Sorrento collection. Completely lead-free, the durable, chip-resistant stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher, and conventional oven for warming. -Ann Bieri.
