Review Bodum Pavina 15-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Glasses (Tall Drink), Set of 2 / Bodum 4560-10US:

These glasses are lightweight because they are made of borosilicate glass - a strong heat resistant glass used to make scientific lab glass. It is much stronger than regular glass so it doesn't need to be as thick to be just as durable. With double wall construction, coffee, tea and other drinks stay hot longer. When drinking cold drinks, the dual layer construction works in the opposite direction to prevent your body heat from transferring to the beverage inside, allowing your drinks to stay cold longer. You don't need to use coasters as the double wall construction eliminates 'sweating', so you never have to worry about condensation gathering on your table. Bodum's double walled thermo glasses are dishwasher and microwave safe. They are scratch resistant and will not become cloudy over time. These glasses have won many prestigious design awards. 15 oz 6 inches h, 3 inches diam. With futuristic looks and high-tech construction, Bodum's Pavina drinkware makes an exciting departure from traditional glassmaking. [+]
The walls of each vessel are crafted from two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Softening the look, Pavina's shapes feature smooth, rounded silhouettes. The inner wall also curves slightly away from the outer wall for a touch of understated elegance. This set of two double wall thermo-glasses keeps any beverage from icy lemonade to hot cocoa at an ideal temperature. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the 15-ounce pair is also exceptionally strong, lightweight, and durable. The two-layer construction resists heat and prevents condensation, so the outside remains comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this scratch-resistant set goes into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Pavina with the Assam and Canteen lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. -Kara Karll Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

Review Riedel Ouverture White Wine Glasses, Set of 4 / Riedel 408 /5:

Introduced in 1989, Riedel's Ouverture collection is an uncomplicated beginner series for customers who appreciate good, reasonably priced wine. You needn't have an encyclopedic knowledge of varietals or wine-growing regions to appreciate this fine stemware. Perfect for everyday use, the four white-wine glasses in this set are part of the moderately priced Ouverture series offered by world-renowned Austrian wineglass maker Riedel Crystal (founded in 1756). Being lead-free, they're not crystal like Riedel's premium glasses but are machine blown of potash glass and are dishwasher-safe. Their thin rims are cut and polished to Riedel's exacting standards, so wine flows easily onto the tongue. Each glass holds 9-7/8 ounces and stands 7-1/8 inches high. Though glasses shaped and sized for different types of wine seem commonplace today, when Riedel introduced this idea in 1961, it was revolutionary. Since then Riedel has continued fine-tuning glasses to bring out the best characteristics in wines and spirits. Varying bowls' shapes and sizes affects the position of the head when sipping and where wine first contacts the tongue's various taste zones. -Fred Brack.

  • Model: Riedel Vinum Single Malt Whiskey Glasses, Set of 2

Review Riedel Vinum Single Malt Whiskey Glasses, Set of 2 / Riedel 6416/80:

Claus Riedel changed the world of wine with his revolutionary concept of functional stemware. He was the first designer to recognize that the bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wines are affected by the shape of the glass from which they are drunk. Introduced in 1986, Vinum was the first machine-made series of glasses in history to be based exclusively on the characteristics of quality with a reasonable price. These glasses have proved to consumers and restaurateurs that the pleasure of consuming wine starts with the glass. Extensive research for the perfect malt whiskey glass resulted in a glass that has an elongated thistle shape on a truncated stem. The design incorporates a small, slightly outturned lip which directs the spirit onto the tip of the tongue, where sweetness is perceived, and serves to emphasize the elegant creaminess of top quality single malt whisky. Recommended for: Single Malt Whisky, Malt Whisky, Whisky. The Vinum collection is made of over 24% lead crystal. 4 1/2 in. - 7 oz. [+]
Renowned Austrian glassmaker Riedel designs the shape of each glass to most fully enhance the appreciation of the liquid within. Seeking the expertise of master distillers in Scotland, Riedel came up with its definitive single malt whiskey glass: a deep bowl on a short, pedestal stem. With its flared lip and curved profile, one can even imagine the bowl resembling a Scottish thistle. Perfect for any fine whiskey, the set of two glasses makes a superb wedding gift or adds to an existing collection for the serious wine and spirits lover. Each single malt whiskey glass stands 4-1/2 inches tall and holds 7 ounces at full capacity. Comprised of more than 24 percent lead crystal for superb brilliance and clarity, Vinum stems and cocktail glasses are nevertheless affordable because they are machine-made rather than mouth-blown. Riedel introduced the popular Vinum line in 1986 and this particular glass in 1991. While all Vinum glassware is dishwasher-safe, Riedel recommends washing the crystal by hand to prevent detergent residue that can affect wine taste. -Ann Bieri.

, 21-1/8 oz. Riedel Model # 414/0 Founded in 1756, Austria’s Riedel Crystal is the world’s premier manufacturer of wine glasses and has always catered to the fine wine connoisseur. However, these wine tumblers are part of the company’s first attempt at producing a lower priced wine glass for casual entertaining. Like Riedel’s prestigious Vinum series of glasses, these tumblers are specifically designed for a particular grape varietal and still maintain their ability to enhance the flavors and aromas of the wines they were intended for. The only difference is that the tumblers are missing their stems, making them slightly less delicate to handle, more modern in appearance, and easier to fit in smaller cabinets, mini bars, picnic baskets, and the dishwasher. The O series of glasses are made of machine-made of non-leaded glass. The shape of the two glasses in this set is specifically recommended for young, full-bodied red wines with high tannin and extract, such as Cabernet or Merlot. Each glass holds 21-1/8 ounces of wine, stands 4-7/8 inches tall, and is completely dishwasher-safe. -Cristina Vaamonde.
